A message from Mayor Sylvester Turner

Season’s Greetings!

We are approaching the end of another great year, and I want to thank each city employee for all your hard work in 2022 for the residents of Houston. Throughout this year, we have met every triumph and challenge with the same grit, determination, heart, and effort.

Yours is often a thankless job; whether you are collecting trash, maintaining our libraries and parks, repairing potholes, or answering emergency calls from the public, you make a difference. Your commitment has made our city the best place to live, work, and play.

This holiday season, I encourage everyone to reflect on the true meaning of the season and what it represents for our city of diversity and inclusivity for all Houstonians.

We take pride in our giving spirit, demonstrated by the contributions each of us makes throughout the year. Many departments adopt families for the holidays, and others spread cheer through volunteering at food pantries and the annual Houston Police Department’s toy and bike giveaway that puts smiles on the faces of young children. Our combined services help in a meaningful way to show Houstonians and our neighbors that you and your loved ones matter to us.

By working together next year, we can continue to create a better tomorrow for everyone in Houston.

We will hit the running in January with big projects and bold expectations.

Until then, please enjoy the holidays. Be safe, rest and spend time with your friends and family.

Thank you for an incredible year. It is an honor to serve as your mayor.
