Down Syndrome Association of Houston (EIN 237203655)
Briefly describe your mission.
The Down Syndrome Association of Houston (DSAH) provides lifelong education, support, and resources to individuals with Down syndrome, their families, and the communities they live.
Who does your agency help?
Individuals of all ages living with Down syndrome, families, and professionals. Our service area includes Harris, Fort Bend, Brazoria, and Montgomery Counties.
Why should a City of Houston employee give to your organization?
Down syndrome is the most commonly occurring chromosomal condition. Approximately one in every 772 babies in the United States is born with Down syndrome – about 5,100 each year. Raising a child with Down syndrome is often overwhelming and challenging. DSAH is Houston’s largest provider of education, support, and outreach programs dedicated solely to the Down syndrome community. DSAH serves as a vital resource for thousands of individuals, parents, and families.
What is something unique about your agency?
DSAH partnered with Texas Children’s Hospital to open a one-of-a-kind Down Syndrome Clinic to ensure that all children with Down syndrome receive the proper medical care and necessary therapies.
